Ctrl + Arrowkey – Jump to Edge of Content.Navigating through Excel spreadsheet could be time-consuming, especially if you are dealing with a large data-set. So, from the 'Galaxy' column, I started at row 1 and used CTRL+SHIFT+DOWN ARROW to select the last cell with data. Ctrl + Alt + V – Paste special, will trigger the prompt for more options. Basically, what Im trying to do is to replace all blank cells in my 'Earth' column with 'BLANK2', but NOT the whole column, I want it to stop when its equal to the bottom-most row of data in a column named 'Galaxy'.
Alt + W + Q – Zoom in (type in % zoom, helpful with large dataset).I used CTRL+SHIFT+PAGE DOWN to select the first blank cell below the last data cell, then used arrow up to select the last cell with data in the 'Galaxy' column, this allowed me to select ONLY the bottom-most data cell in the 'Galaxy' column. Alt + H + 9 – Remove one decimal * requires pressing all keys at the same time With all the data cells in the 'Galaxy' column highlighted and the focus on the last data cell.Alt + H + 0 – Add one decimal * requires pressing all keys at the same time.F2 + F9 – Show as input number *useful for checking numbers but press ESC after (or you’ll change formulas into an input).F2 – Edit Cell, Show Formula (avoiding double-click).
The key is to minimize the use of the mouse and do as much as you can with the keyboard to save you time and improve accuracy. Start with some basic and most frequently used ones in all kind Excel workflow. If you work with Excel on a daily basis, it’s worth spending an extra 10 minutes to sharpen and improve on your shortcut games, because this 10 minutes investment will pay back exponentially in no time.
